Fair Play offers training sessions and workshops on a large variety of subjects.
The sessions and workshops are always informal, practical and fun, as well as being informative and stimulating. Topics for sessions can be tailored to meet the needs and expectations of individual groups.

The list is not exhaustive and other topics can be covered.

Topics include:

Child Development
• Practical look at child development from birth through to teenage years.
• Babies, toddlers, pre-school, early school age, pre-teen, teenage development.
• Looking at Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional Development.

Positive Behaviour
• Information on the principles and strategies for encouraging positive behaviour and evaluation of their effectiveness and practicality for the play setting.

Challenging Behaviour
• Consideration is given to looking for reasons for unacceptable behaviour and information is given on the principles and strategies involved in dealing with unacceptable behaviour.

Communication
• How to be an effective communicator with both children and adults.
• The problems that may be encountered if communication breaks down.
• How to overcome or avoid this.

Gender and Non sexist workshops.
• ‘Boys and girls, come out to play’ -consider the influence of adults, peers and the media.
• How can the Playworker work positively with boys and girls in a fair and inclusive way?

Multicultural workshops
• Variety and cultural diversity are celebrated, awareness raising and discussion stimulating workshop.

Disability and Inclusion training
• Children's abilities are considered, and an understanding of the disabilities children face and overcome.
• Inclusion of all children in play activities and settings in an appropriate way for individual needs and aptitudes.

Peace making and Conflict Resolution
• The theory and practise of having a "peaceful" play setting.
• How to encourage children to be responsible for their own actions and to resolve conflicts in a positive manner.

Keeping Kids Safe
• How to empower children to feel confident and safe, while having an awareness of risk.
• Strategies and practical advice for "keeping yourself safe".

Working as a Team
• Work effectively with other people in a team.
• Support and be supported by the team.
• Allow for the contribution of all members to build up and strengthen the team.

Child Protection in the Play Setting
• Practical guide through the policies and procedures necessary to ensure that children have the best possible care and protection in the play setting and that Playworkers are equipped to deal with situations that may arise.

Role of the Playworker
• Consider the variety and complexity of the Playworker role and the practical aspects of planning, performing and evaluating the Playworker role.

Arts and Crafts
• Fun ‘hands on’ sessions full of practical ideas for arts, crafts and music

Double Trouble with chips please
• A fun drama workshop aimed at helping out of school care workers using drama as a tool for exploring challenging behaviour

Wind. Wood and Wellies
• Great ideas for making the most of the weather and environment around us.
